Famous Beaches in Goa

Anjuna Beach
The famous beach in Goa as well as the most popular hangout to the youngsters, Anjuna Beach is located at a distance of 18 kms from Panaji, the capital of Goa. This beach is in close proximity to Chapora Fort. The magnificent Albuquerque Mansion built in 1920 is located near the beach. Anjuna beach is known as the Goa Freak Capital of the World.

Arambol Beach
A rocky and sandy beach in north Goa, Arambol Beach is a 16 kms long beach. On the right shore of the beach a water pond is located. If a tourist looks for just the sea and tranquility, Arambol Beach is the perfect beach resort. It is 50 kms from Panaji.

Agonda Beach
Lots of tourists prefer to laze at Agonda Beach to savor its picturesque and secluded beauty.

Baga Beach
Located in between Colva and Calangute beaches, Baga beach is an ideal resort for those of who want to share some private moments. It is far away from the hustle and bustle of Calangute Beach. Angling enthusiast can also have nice time at this beach. The brown sand and palm groves of the beach attract the tourists. The Baga River flows on one side of the beach before empting into the sea.

Bogmalo Beach

Calangute Beach
The most visited and famous beach in Goa, Calangute Beach is sought after by large number of tourists from across the world. It is just 16 kms away from capital city Panaji. It is known as the Queen of Beaches. The accommodation facilities are available in this beach. The word Calangute is derived from the vernacular word Kolli-gutti which means the land of fishermen. Goa was a Portuguese Colony till 1961 and it is believed that the name changed to Calangute as the Portuguese changed the pronunciation of the vernacular word.

Colva Beach
The only rival to Calangute beach, Colva Beach is known for its scenic beauty. It is a beach where the sand, sky and sea meet creating a magical aura. It is located at a distance of 6 kms from Marmagoa.
Colva beach is ideal for swimming and sunbathing. There are lots of accommodation facilities at this beach.

Dona Paula Beach
Just 7kms from the capital city, Panaji Dona Paula Beach is a charming beach which overlooks the Zuari River and Marmago harbor. It is called as Lover’s Paradise as a popular myth is related to this beach. Two rivers meet the Arabian Sea at the Dona Paula Bay.

One can have the fun of sunbath at this beach; water scooting is the most popular sport at this beach.

Miramar Beach
The nearest beach to Panaji, Miramar Beach is a golden beach ideal for beach fun and pleasure. Sunset view from this beach is spectacular. The Mandovi River meets the Arabian Sea at this beach. It is an urban beach with various facilities.
